My Most Used Eyebrow Products

I like to think that the eyebrows are one of THE most important parts of a girls make up routine, or even if you aren't a wearer of makeup a good shaped brow will completely frame your face. It's something I have done ever since I can remember, but not always have I done it well. If only I knew back in the day what I know now! If you are not confident with what to do, it's a good idea to have your brows shaped by a professional, they can help you do what suits your face.

To me, brows are something that need to be made to look as natural as possible, I hate seeing a heavily drawn on fake line, I like to see a persons actual eyebrow hair showing through. I have to admit I am really lucky to have brows that are not too bad to begin with, so I only really have to fill them and give them a bit more shape.

use these products on a regular basis and it all depends on how much time I have, where I am going and how I feel as to what I use on any given day. I'll tell you what they are and how I use them.

1. Essence Eyebrow Kit
This is my most used product. Before this I used a pencil, but always felt as though my brows looked drawn on and I could never get the hang of it to be fully happy with the end result. Then I tried this! It's my holy grail and cost me about $5! It comes with 3 shaping guides and a brush. I love that it has 2 colours, I start with the darker one through my arch to help create a more lifted and shaped look through to the tail of my brow and the use the lighter shade to gently brush through the start of them to look a bit more natural. I love the way my eyebrows look when using this and it lasts all day. If I am going somewhere and want to know that they won't budge, I'll brush the the Benefit Gimme Brow to set them at the end.

2. Benefit Gimme Brow
Second most used! This product is a tinted brow Volumizing fibre gel and is great for those days when I don't have much time to worry about makeup. I can whip this through and it will give me a bit of volume and colour. Not for the days I'm wanting clear definition. As I said above, sometimes I use it as a last step after brow powder when I need my brows to stay for longer than an average day. This product is quite expensive at $37 but I haven't found anything else like it on the market. I had very high hopes for the new Maybelline Brow Drama for being a dupe for Gimme Brow, but unfortunately  I found it to be a complete waste of money.

3. Maybelline Brow Drama
This is only on my "most used" list because I am still trying to make it work some how, some way! I have had no luck so far. It's not a product with fibres, it's described as a brow 'mascara' so It doesn't fill my brows, it just makes streak marks through them. The big bulb on the end if it is far too big for brows, don't know what they were thinking there. There's no way I can use it alone, but I am trying different techniques to use it to compliment other products. This one I may have to give away to a good home of someone who it will work for. This was about $7 half price at Woolies.

4. Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade
This is a well known highly raved about brow product. I don't know anyone that doesn't love this stuff. It's described as a fast drying waterproof pomade that resist smudging and sliding. It's said to blend easily and create the illusion of thick full brows and a little goes a long way. All true my dears. All true. This stuff is amazing! I love it, but I only use it when I am not time poor, as it takes a while to apply carefully. It is very easy to go overboard and look like a drag queen. Not a good look. I use it when I am going out as I know it is fail safe and looks great. The trick with it is to dip my brush gently in and tap it onto the back of my hand to take off some product first. I then use very gentle fine strokes. I'm telling you, this does not budge. Your brows will be safe as houses. As I mentioned in a previous post, my favourite brush to use is the Olivia Jones Eyebrow Brush. In Aus, Dipbrow Pomade is around $38 but I got it off a beauty website for $18 U.S.

I'm pretty happy with the products I'm using for my eyebrows at the moment, but am always interested in testing out new things. What do you use on your brows? What do you recommend trying? I'd love to hear from you!

Thanks for reading.

Love,
Emma xx

  1. Great review Em :). I have both of these brow mascaras and I agree, the BrowDrama is not good. The Benefit one was ok when i used it but i haven't repurchased. I have read great reviews on the ModelCo brow mascara. I must admit atm i am using the end of a normal black mascara on my brows... i only try to touch my brows lightly to give them some colour but it can easily go wrong if i am not careful :). I used a pencil for years and sometimes i revert back :). I love a great brow but i don't think i have found the holy grail products for my brows yet. Would love to try the Anastasia product but i am usually time poor in the morning so can't see it part of my morning routine :). Sounds like the Essence kit is the way to go. Thanks for a great read :). Jx

  2. I am the exact same! I have still not figured out a way to make the Maybelline Brow Drama to work! The brush is just so odd and doesn't apply the right amount of product to my brows, but yet I am still soldiering on and using it!

Great review, I can't wait to get my hands on the Anastasia one :) x

    1. That's great Aliya! It must depend on different types of brows and the way it's applied.. I'm going to keep trying! :)
